Even absent of Lugia's PRESSURE, each breath Gavin draws feels heavier than the last. His heart races as much as his thoughts, PARANOIA causing him to jump at every shadow. He did not belong here.[break][break]

Lugia, too, had overstayed her welcome in this alien environment. He'd seen it in her flagging strength even as she'd tried to stubbornly conceal it from him — they were alike in that way. He'd insisted she go on ahead. He'd wanted to stay longer, to ensure that the Rockets they'd been escorting made it safely back behind their lines. He had his SYGNA SUIT, after all.[break][break]

But even the Suit was not infallible. Knowing this, Gavin makes now for the Rift that will bring him back to Dewford, to Lugia, to safety. Alone, but for his Pokemon.[break][break]

Along with the Dhelmise whom the Sygna Suit draws inspiration from, a young Nihilego floats at Gavin's side. Stakataka scuttles behind them like some alien Krabby; his Ultra Beasts were stronger than his Shadows without Lugia's blessing to bolster them.

Another day and another tasked asked of him by AQUA to do more with the rift. Admittedly tired from the fights with both Asriel Pryde and Isaac Merlo, plus the addition with his own time in the Rifts without a Sygna Suit as he has found his abilities more useful having than not. Least this was a more peaceful visit as it was just gathering materials. [break][break]

Though that peaceful outing didn't seem to last long as Salem seems to go on edge as the Meowstic seems to sense an enemy and Razz moves to the entrance to see the threat, the young man sending a quick message of needing back up before his own Ultra Beast along side side him. Razz fulling intending to block the exit for the other. [break][break]

"Don't suppose there is an easy way of doing this hmmm?" Razz sadly ask the other before he gives his Crimson the signal to use EARTHQUAKE at those in front of them as it slams it's fist into the ground before Razz calls for another of his Ultra Beast to help even the numbers, "But if you surrender now this could be easy" making it clear this was the only warning.

Where Raziel seems sad, Gavin is filled with rage.[break][break]

His eyes narrow. Instinctively, he reaches for the aid of his SHADOW MIASMA... but with the SYGNA SUIT, it does not come.[break][break]

No matter. He could crush his enemies without it.[break][break]

Stakataka's WIDE GUARD shields them from the EARTHQUAKE.[break][break]

"I'd sooner die," Gavin spits. "But I'll settle for killing you, instead."[break][break]

Whatever bond they'd shared between them had been shattered with finality when Raziel had taken up arms against Rocket in Sootopolis. Gavin had offered the traitor a chance to fade into obscurity, a chance few traitors ever received, and the boy had spat in his face.[break][break]

He clicks his tongue, a sound that would be familiar to a Kanto Rocket.[break][break]

Attack.[break][break]

Dhelmise vanishes into the shadowy portal of a PHANTOM FORCE, his Nihilego scattering STEALTH ROCKS across the field.[break][break]

Gavin lifts his left arm, an anchor coiled around its length. It fires toward the Buzzwole, tipped with a POISON BARB. The sooner they evened the odds of this battle, the better.

"Stronger men than you have tried," is all he spits back, which considering there wasn't a burn in his mouth he did feel that way in a sense. Though it probably was just because Razz would always see his father as a stronger man than most even if it wasn't true. Besides that it might be a fun little bruise to the other's ego. He recognizes the pattern in the whistle and a click of his own would set off a defensive tactic as Salem is the one who keeps up his guard about that. [break][break]

Before another whistle for both his Ultra Beast, Crimson going forward as the barb connects and poisons the bug pokemon. Though it seems like he'll choose to ignore the poison as it'll fly straight at the blocked Ultra Beast and striking with a DRAIN PUNCH right in its stupid face. The swoll pokemon seeming to want to prove itself as the superior Ultra Beast within the group. [break][break]

Meanwhile the tiny paper sized Kartana moves above the jellyfish like Ultra Beast. A PSYCHO CUT being used as it would try to take the other down. [break][break]

Meanwhile Razz conjures a fireball within his hand as he waits for Salem's warning against the Dhelmise.

Gavin seems unfazed, his laugh sharp enough to cut.[break][break]

"If they were strong, they'd have succeeded."[break][break]

His Dhelmise's PHANTOM FORCE proves to be an attempt to do just that, as the anchor emerges from shadow behind the Ranger and tries to cleave him in two.[break][break]

Stakataka attempts to PROTECT itself from the incoming DRAIN PUNCH, but the attack smashes through its shimmering barrier and cracks a few of the individual bricks that make up the Beast.[break][break]

Nihilego, small as it was, dips in between its STEALTH ROCKS to avoid the incoming blow. It fires back with a VENOSHOCK aimed toward the POISONED Buzzwole.

He ignores the laugh, subconscious belief or not his mouth didn't burn so all he could do was believe it too be true. "Or maybe I'm not as weak as you remember" [break][break]

The portal opens behind him and Salem is there with him as the anchor appears and the meowstic is the one who seems cut and mangled for just a brief moment before his body seems back to normal. His DISGUISE coming in clutch as usual as it gives Razz the chance to turn and use his fireball at the ghost. The flame exploding on impact should it hit as he knew it should also burn the Pokemon. [break][break]

Meanwhile zinc gives chase to the jellyfish Pokemon as it would use AERIAL ACE against it to try and knock it's VENOSHOCK off course. And while it doesn't hit as hard as it could've there is still a poisoned burn from the attack. [break][break]

Crimson for now trusting in his little buddy to watch his back as the swole Pokemon goes into the brick house and an ICE PUNCH

"That much is obvious," Gavin agrees. Raziel had grown much since their days in Kanto. "But neither am I."[break][break]

No longer the grunt cowering beneath his betters but an underboss, powerful in his own right. An Avatar, worthy of Lugia's attention.[break][break]

They were closer to equals, now, but Gavin refused to back down from a challenge... even when he should. He was outmatched without his powers, without his Shadows at his side, but he refused to give Raziel the satisfaction of surrender.[break][break]

His Dhelmise would pay the price, its attack slicing through a mere DISGUISE before the anchor is blasted with a ball of fire. The wise thing to do would be to recall it, especially as the resulting BURN compromises its offensive capability, but without his Dhelmise on the field, the SYGNA SUIT is significantly less powerful. Gavin's RAGE serves to counter the debuff as his SYNC STONE pulses with energy, but it does nothing for the sustained damage.[break][break]

Though the AERIAL ACE is resisted, it serves its purpose in dampening the strength of the jellyfish's own attack. Undeterred, it strikes out with another VENOSHOCK as soon as it's recovered.[break][break]

Taking the ICE PUNCH, Stakataka rams its IRON HEAD into the other Ultra Beast.[break][break]

Trying to regain some of its strength, Dhelmise GIGA DRAINS Salem.

If Razz wanted to get this done he knows the ghost pokemon was going to have to go first as the Ultra Beast were the more problematic problem at the moment. Least on the surface it seemed as it doesn't connect right away that the other is connected to his pokemon through a Sygna Suit. Salem winces as he feels some of his energy drained but Razz intended to make sure that the gain wouldn't be much as he does a specific whistle. A new one he's developed since he fully accepted Reshiram's power. A flame conjures in his hand while Salem uses SHADOW BALL and both trainer and pokemong launch their attacks at the same time to attack the Dhelmise to try and get it out of the picture. [break][break]

While the first attack barely does damage Zinc now knows its in a better position than before to be between the Nihilego and the Buzzwole, and while the VENOSHOCK tries to hit Zinc makes sure to get in the way this time. It's steel typing making sure that they were immune. After its blade arms glowing before it goes in with SACRED SWORD against the other Ultra Beast. [break][break]

Weakened by the poison and taking a bit of extra damage from it Crimson's defense faulters some as its left open for the IRON HEAD from the large Ultra Beast. Though being the fighter that he was he refused to come down so easily as it tries to put all of it's strength into another DRAIN PUNCH to try and take back the energy it lost from the poison.

Though it tries to escape through the use of its PHANTOM FORCE, the Ghost-type SHADOW BALL pierces the veil. The ghastly fireball strikes two weaknesses at once, and the Dhelmise lets out a haunting screech as its seaweed colony goes up in flames.[break][break]

Had Gavin recalled it at that moment, it might have survived... but as the SYGNA SUIT powers down on account of the Dhelmise's injuries, Gavin stumbles and clutches at his temple. He has been in the Wilds too long, pushed himself too far, and the DEEP SEA takes its toll. His knees give out, impacting hard against the ground as he doubles over and vomits.[break][break]

SHADOW MIASMA floods around him as the SYGNA SUIT deactivates. He is quick to reach for another Pokeball as his supernatural reflexes return, but Razz would have had opportunity for action.[break][break]

Without its trainer to recall it, the Dhelmise succumbs to its BURNS.[break][break]

In spite of Gavin's struggle, his Ultra Beasts don't give up their fight. The Stakataka PROTECTS itself from the incoming DRAIN PUNCH, and though the young Nihilego is clearly weakening, its Poison-typing allows it to barely withstand a SACRED SWORD.[break][break]

Desperately, it throws a POWER GEM toward the weakening Buzzwole.[break][break]

Lugia...Help me.[break][break]

But in Hoenn's seas, the Guardian cannot hear.

One down and now for the main target as his Ultra Beast were keeping the other's busy when the anchor pokemon finally went down. From his pouch Razz grabs out a SCATTERBANG and throws it, Salem using his psychic powers to correct the course of the throw to make sure it should hit Gavin in order to stun the other. Last thing Razz needed was for Gavin's own avatar powers to start up before he blast himself to be up close to the other to try and tackle him down. After attempting to use the STICKY GLOB to prevent the other from calling out anymore pokemon before he scrambles off. [break][break]

"Its over Merlino," Razz huffs before he snaps his fingers, sparks flying from them as they shoot out in a circle around them to form his TERRAIN OF TRUTH, "You're not escaping here."[break][break]

The POWER GEMS strike true and Crimson can easily feel himself fading. Both from the damage and poison it was experiencing, as it goes down it attempts one final punch to the ground to use an EARTHQUAKE, even if weakened, before he finally falls to the ground. Whether or not the EARTHQUAKE does anything didn't matter as seeing his buddy fallen does seem to anger Zinc. The small Ultra Beast unleashing a furry of PSYCHO CUTS at both opponents.

Blood trickles from Gavin's nose as the world spins around him. His ears ring. Yet throughout his struggle, he understands the importance of action. Of survival. Trembling fingers reach for a pokeball—[break][break]

BANG![break][break]

The sound and sudden flash of the SCATTERBANG cause him to flinch. His ears ring all the louder.[break][break]

No, he thinks, anger and fear grappling for dominance in his chest, If I can just...[break][break]

The sound of an explosion is not warning enough to prepare him for the force of Raziel's weight slamming into him. Gavin is sturdily built, but driven to his knees from the sudden influx of nausea and with no opportunity to brace himself, the ranger takes him to the ground.[break][break]

It's not without struggle. Gavin snarls as he immediately tries to fight the other's pinning weight, to reach for his knife or his gun or anything that might provide an edge. It's the STICKY GLOB that stops him, pinning his hands. Breathing hard and with eyes full of hatred, he glares up at his former friend and bares his teeth.[break][break]

Though the anger registers strong in his expression, it is fear that strangles in his throat. The point-blank SCATTERBANG has blown out his earpiece, blood hot as it slides down his jaw. No help is coming.[break][break]

His Ultra Beasts cannot withstand the onslaught from Raziel's Pokémon, the lights at Gavin's belt going dim as they succumb.[break][break]

I know too much. PARANOIA corrupts any rational thought. declan walsh will want me silenced. He might even send Zev Harcourt. Risen to the rank of respected Beast, the assassin no longer needed Gavin in his corner. It would be far more beneficial to follow Rocket, now.[break][break]

He could cooperate with the League in a desperate attempt to save himself... but the thought of betraying his sister, his husband, only further knots his stomach. And what would Tempest Quinn do without him? Recalling their emotional exchange about his husband's apathy toward death, he clenches his jaw to stop it from trembling.[break][break]

"You'll get nothing from me," he vows, dark.

The light around them goes from a vibrant purple to a cold blue the moment Gavin lies within his Terrain and the look Razz gives the other is just as cold as he tries to show no sympathy for his old colleague, "You're a poor liar."[break][break]

"But maybe this gives you a small inkling on what its like for those who left, you understand that trying to hunt them down is wrong right?" Razz questions hoping to see if the other had any type of regret for it. Though unless Gavin answered 'yes' and meant it the Underboss would find the flames around them glowing blue once again. As Razz would warp the answer to skew it and make the other believe that deep down he knew it to be wrong too.[break][break]

Would it give him a headache later? Sure, but Razz would deep it worth it.
